Know what a standard drink means
In the United States, one standard drink contains about 0.6 fluid ounces or 14 grams of pure alcohol. Actual serving sizes often contain more than one standard drink.
Plan for safety
Never drive after drinking. Arrange a sober driver, public transportation, or a place to stay before drinking begins. Alcohol is not appropriate during pregnancy, with certain medications, or for people under 21.
